Strangers

I lay here crying, thinking about the past
The summer after high school, when we first met
Late night hangouts and watching fireworks in the dark sky
Spending time together
Amazing memories that I'll never forget
My heart beating faster every time we look into each other’s eyes
Promises and “I love you” thrown around like nothing
But it meant everything
The deep conversations, laughs, smiles, and long hugs
The good and bad times
Being the one who was always there for me
We were so in love, at least I thought we were
Everything falling apart in a second
Wondering if I could have done something to change it
We were so close and suddenly everything changed
The annoying texts you know to use, just to frustrate me
I don’t know the truth anymore
I don’t believe anything you say
You said you wanted me, but you proved you’re just like the rest
Wishing so hard that it was like the beginning again
But never mind I’ll find someone better than you
Eventually we’ll be complete strangers again
